Service
At TOWtal we make sure we excel at the service we give throughout the motor home and caravan industry.
Your motorhome is, some of the time, a road vehicle and to keep you and your passengers and other road users as safe as possible, you need to have it serviced regularly. The service is normally carried out by a workshop that specialises in the leisure industry and backed by the manufacturer who supplied the base vehicle for your motor home. These services must to be carried out at the mileages or times recommended by the manufacturer or it can potentially void any warranty.
For MOT test purposes, your motor home should be covered by the normal car MOT test scheme but can sometimes need to be tested at a larger centre. In some circumstances, vehicle converters do not notify the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency about the conversion. If you find this is true for your motorhome – and you are required to have more frequent, expensive MOT tests – contact the DVLA for advice on changing your classification.
In addition you will need to have the living area serviced annually (the habitation check), which will normally be done by a specialist motorhome workshop.
This habitation service has to include the water, gas, electrical and heating systems, which will all need to be checked and maintained. The fridge will also be checked but any major servicing is usually done separately. The dealer should also check for any damp or leaks in the structure.
